Three people face a litany of charges following the conclusion of an RCMP investigation into a bank robbery and a string of ATM thefts across several communities. Investigators with the North Battleford detachment say the thefts took place in south and central Saskatchewan between Nov. 22, and Jan. 1, 2025, beginning with an armed robbery of a bank on Main Street in Landis, Sask. — about 130 kilometres west of Saskatoon. In a news release Monday, the Saskatchewan RCMP touted the widespread coordination of its provincial general investigation section (GIS), pulling together “many front-line detachments, police units and Crime Stoppers to connect incidents reported” in different communities. The investigation found connections between incidents in Dodsland, Rosetown, Gull Lake, Lemberg, Wolseley, Craven, Neilburg, Marshall, Battleford, Purdue, and Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation. “Complex investigations like this involve extensive resources and large-scale coordination across multiple detachment areas. The sheer number of crimes solved in this investigation really highlights the successful collaboration between support units of the RCMP and front-line officers,” said Sgt. Adam Buckingham, with the North Battleford Provincial GIS. Police say the trail led them to a residence in Biggar. After obtaining a search warrant on Feb. 5, police seized items they think are connected to the ATM thefts and the Landis bank robbery and arrested 36-year-old Sheena Benoit and 33-year-old Joshua Meszaros. Benoit (also known as Sheena Harrabek) faces charges including break and enter, multiple counts of theft over and under $5,000 and mischief property damage. Meszaros is staring at a comparable list of charges, plus multiple counts for using a disguise with the intent to commit an offence. Police arrested a third suspect on Feb. 12 — 48-year-old Rosetown resident Jeremy Seery, who faces 24 charges for robbery with a weapon, break and enter, mischief and using a disguise to commit a crime. Meszaros and Benoit are scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 7. Seery is schedule to appear there on April 14.
