Regina police say they have arrested 48-year-old sex offender Jason Paul Thorn for being unlawfully at large after they were unable to contact him last week, putting him in breach of conditions of his statutory release. Thorn, who has a history of reoffending and poses a high risk of sexual offences particularly against female children, was living in the Heritage neighbourhood at a residence that provided supervision and monitoring of his activities. Thorn had been living at the facility since March 31 following his statutory release from prison. Police said it’s important to note that Thorn’s latest arrest is not the result of a new criminal offence, adding he was taken into custody as the result of breaching one of his conditions. Regina police added that Thorn has been returned to “closed custody.”
