The Regina Police Service (RPS) has charged an 18-year-old man in connection to a fatal, single vehicle crash on July 31. Officers were dispatched at around 5:30 a.m. that morning for a report of a serious crash in the area of 6th Avenue North and Smith Street. Officers discovered a car that appeared to have collided with a power pole and rolled. A 13-year-old victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was declared dead at the scene. Members of RPS’s collision reconstruction team were called to the scene and began their investigation. As a result of that effort, 18-year-old Connor Douglas faces three charges. They include operation of a conveyance impaired by alcohol or a drug or combination of both causing death, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death and exceeding 80 mg of alcohol within two hours of operating a conveyance. Douglas made his first appearance on his charges in Regina provincial court on the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 5.
