Regina-based Century West Disaster Restoration Ltd has declared bankruptcy – creating issues for homeowners as they deal with the ensuing uncertainty. The company made an assignment into bankruptcy on February 26, according to insolvency firm MNP Ltd. A homeowner in Regina told CTV News that a lien has been placed on their home as a result of the bankruptcy announcement. As of Tuesday afternoon, Century West Disaster Restoration’s offices in Regina’s industrial area were locked and a notice of bankruptcy was posted on the business’s door. Century West Disaster Restoration is part of the Century West group of companies – which include Century West Homes and Century West Commercial Construction. The latter two businesses have not declared bankruptcy. However, Century West Construction is listed as one of the liabilities on the public bankruptcy documents. According to the bankruptcy filing, the company’s listed liabilities total $3.4 million. Prior to its bankruptcy, the company provided cleanup and reconstruction services for home and commercial properties in and around Regina.
