The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is warning the public about measles exposure risks in Regina earlier this week. According to the SHA, anyone who was at the Walmart superstore at 4500 Gordon Road from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. or the Bass Pro Shop at 910 Gordon Road from 3:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on April 9 is advised to monitor themselves for symptoms for 21 days. Measles symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, white spots inside the mouth and throat. As well, a red blotchy rash develops on the face and spreads down the body around three to seven days after symptoms begin, the SHA said. As measles is highly contagious, the SHA is urging anyone with symptoms who was at either location to call HealthLine 811 for assessment. The SHA says measles is protected by vaccination, and with two doses, it is almost 100 per cent effective. To review immunization history or make sure you’re up to date, the SHA advises people to check their My Sask. Health Record or talk with their doctor.
