The Saskatchewan Association of Conservation Officers (SASKTIP) is seeking the public’s help finding the person who shot a black bear dead near Sheho, Sask. in late April. Conservations Officers in Yorkton confirmed to CTV News that they received a tip about a dead black bear three miles southwest of Sheho. Officers investigated on April 28 and found that the black bear was killed with a single shot to the head. Based on the evidence collected, officers concluded that the bear was likely shot the night before, on April 27. There has been no report filed about the bear prior to it being found, making the incident illegal. The Conservation Office told CTV News that they receive calls about poachers all year round, adding that bears are frequent visitors to farms. However, they do not often hear about bears being shot unlawfully. SASKTIP is asking those who have any information about incident to contact their Turn-in-Poachers and Polluters hotline. Sheho, Sask. is about 68 kilometres northwest of Yorkton.
