Saskatchewan RCMP have confirmed that a serious collision near Weyburn resulted in a fatality. On May 5, at around 2:25 p.m., RCMP officers received word of a crash on Highway 39 – approximately 11 kilometres southeast of the city. Officers responded along with local firefighters and paramedics. An investigation concluded that a truck and semi collided. The driver of the truck was declared dead at the scene. He has been identified as a 57-year-old man from the Carnduff area. His family has been notified. The driver of the semi was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Highway 39 was temporarily closed as a result of the crash and has since re-opened. Weyburn RCMP continue to investigate with the help of a collision reconstructionist.
