The community of Canora was subject to a flurry of activity Wednesday morning - following the discovery of a suspicious package. Just before 10 a.m., RCMP said a suspicious package was found behind a business on the 300 block of Main Street. Following the discovery, residents were asked to avoid the Main Street area between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. “The origin and contents of the package have not yet been determined. The investigation continues with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit,” RCMP said in a news release at the time. In an update just prior to 3 p.m., Canora and District Fire Rescue said most of the downtown had been reopened - with the exception of a small area that remains under investigation. Just prior to 4 p.m., RCMP confirmed that the suspicious package had been “neutralized.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Canora RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers. Canora, Sask. is located about 49 kilometres north of Yorkton.
