The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) says it is investigating a fatal Regina police officer-involved shooting. According to SIRT, the shooting took place Friday morning on the 1300 block of Garnet Street. SIRT is asking anyone who witnessed or has video of the incident to contact them, adding they will then be contacted by an investigator. In a news release Friday afternoon, Regina police said that during the course of an investigation, an officer discharged their firearm fatally wounding a person at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Friday. “Because this is an active SIRT investigation, no further information will be provided by the Regina Police Service. Additional information will be provided by SIRT as it becomes available,” the release said. Regina police reiterated that anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact SIRT. No other details are available at this time.
