The man connected to a dangerous person alert is now facing an attempted murder charge after an RCMP officer was injured on Muskowekwan First Nation. Officers first responded to a report of an armed individual at a residence on the First Nation around 2 a.m. on Thursday. A firearm was discharged, and an officer was struck, according to RCMP. He was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening. The armed man, who was identified as 28-year-old Elijah Albert, fled on foot. A dangerous person alert for the area was issued around 6:36 a.m. after RCMP monitored the situation. The alert ended around 9:11 a.m. when RCMP say Albert was located at a rural location near Lestock, Sask. and taken into custody. RCMP say fire and ammunition were recovered as part of the ongoing investigation. Albert is facing one count of attempted murder with a firearm, one count of discharging a firearm with intent, one count of uttering threats, and one count of pointing a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial court on July 30. Muskowekwan First Nation and Lestock, Sask. are approximately 140 kilometres north of Regina.
