A Regina man is facing an attempted murder charge after an incident on George Gordon First Nation sent a woman to hospital with a serious gunshot injury on Tuesday. Punnichy RCMP officers were first called to the community around 8:30 a.m. for the report of an injured woman outside a residence, according to Saskatchewan RCMP. RCMP found that a man and woman had an altercation, resulting in the man discharging a firearm. The man left on foot and the woman was airlifted to hospital by STARS with serious injuries. Through an investigation, officers found and arrested the man in a nearby wooded area. More investigation into the incident, with help from RCMP Police Dog Services, led police to find a gun and ammunition in a rural area on George Gordon First Nation. As a result, 24-year-old Xavier Worm has been charged with one count of attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a prohibited firearm without authorization or license, and resisting a peace officer. He appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Wednesday. George Gordon First Nation is located approximately 110 kilometres north of Regina.
