The provincial government says three beaches across Saskatchewan remain under E coli. advisories. According to the Healthy Beaches Public Map, E. coli has been detected at Melville Beach, Alice Beach and the main beach area at Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park. Stoney Beach, located south of Humboldt, is also under an advisory for microcystin. The province says beaches are only safe for swimming and other in-water activities when no individual sample exceeds 235 E. coli per 100 millilitres of water ,or the cyanobacteria or microcystin levels are recorded below 10 µg/L. The advisories showed all affected areas recorded far more contamination than the threshold allowed. In the case of Melville Beach, seven times the contamination limit was reported Aug. 20.
