RCMP in Yorkton are investigating after a man’s body was discovered outside a home in the community. The death has been deemed suspicious. At around 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, Yorkton RCMP received a report of a body outside a home on Victoria Avenue. Police responded and secured the scene. According to RCMP, officers are still working to identify the man – noting that no further details will be provided at this time. The death being classified as suspicious has led to the service’s major crimes unit to take control of the investigation. The Saskatchewan RCMP is asking anyone who lives in the area of the 100 block of Victoria Avenue to check their home security cameras and doorbell cameras between noon on Oct. 5 and the afternoon of Oct. 7. “If your device captured images or videos of suspicious activity, please report it to police immediately by calling 310-RCMP,” the service said in its advisory. As a result of the investigation, residents may notice an increased police presence on the 100 block Victoria Ave for an “undetermined amount of time.” RCMP concluded by saying if an imminent risk to public safety is identified, it will notify the public.
