A man charged in connection to a homicide in northern Saskatchewan last year has had his charge upgraded, according to RCMP. In an update on Tuesday, police announced that Kevin Searcy, 68, is now charged with one count of first-degree murder. Searcy was previously charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of 69-year-old Diane Searcy. Police say the pair were in a relationship. On Nov. 5, 2025, Nipawin RCMP visited a home in the community of Snowden for a wellness check. The body of a woman was discovered at the scene. The death was considered suspicious and a man was arrested at the scene. Searcy is scheduled to appear in Nipawin Provincial Court on June 15. Snowden is located 230 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
